Welcome to the auditorium, the least refined room in The Refinery.  This room is where our High School students will gather each weekend. It will also be used for our college ministry during the week.  You’ll notice how all of the seats in this room are incredibly close to the stage which will create and incredibly intimate environment that is vastly different from that of Tent 3.  This room will hold approximately 700 people in a variety of seating arrangements.  While all of the lower seats are theatre style, all of the seats in the balcony are bleacher style.

The construction crew, the student ministries team, the Crave team and other staff, and lots of awesome volunteers have all been working like crazy getting this building ready to go!

We are so excited for this week and have been looking forward to it for so long!

Welcome to our multipurpose room.  It is setup as a full-court gymnasium which makes it perfect for basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, etc.  This room will also be home to our Junior High students on the weekends.  The room can accommodate approximately 400 people, and more importantly, the floor in this room is stain-proof, water-proof, and can easily be cleaned up!

The name Refinery was chosen for a few reasons.  First, as you will quickly notice, the décor of the building is very retro. In fact, in many places it appears unfinished, dirty, smoky, broken, cracked, etc.  This was all done on purpose. It was made to feel like an old building that we re-purposed as our youth building. More importantly though, there also is a Biblical underlining reference to the name.  As a team of youth workers, it is our prayer that students who come in contact with this place are refined to look more like Christ.

Dear Church Family,

June is a very exciting month because we will be celebrating the grand opening of The Refinery (previously known as The Student Zone). This building is unbelievable! And, contrary to rumors (that I started) it is not just for teenagers. Once you see it, you'll see how our entire church and community will benefit. I can't wait for you to see it!

If you have been part of the ETV building campaign... thank you, thank you, thank you. Thousands of church families made financial sacrifices to continue to build our church property. Again, thank you. Two quick points: (1) If you haven't quite finished your commitment (like my family) you have until the end of June. (2) As a part of the ETV campaign, you will be getting an invitation next week for an ETV Open House Tour. I hope you will eagerly anticipate that.

If you have not been part of the financial campaign, I want to give you an up-close opportunity to help us finish the building. Thousands of people have begun attending Saddleback Church since we began ETV and haven't participated. This is your opportunity to participate and we need your help.

Beginning THIS WEEKEND I am hosting several "Bring Your Checkbook" tours. I'm not being subtle am I? That's okay, I don't want anyone to be confused about why I'm giving tours. I'm doing this for (1) new people to participate, and (2) to finish the interior of the building. If Saddleback is your church home, I want you making an investment into this building. Whether it's $25 for a basketball, $2500 for a pool table, or $25,000 for kitchen equipment... come take a tour, see our shopping list of needed items, and help contribute! [if you missed my video from last weekend, you can see it in the post below]

The tours will happen in groups of 10-20 people and they'll take about 25 minutes (before or after the service). Please go to www.saddleback.com/refinery to register for one of the 26 time slots over the next 2 weekends. I will personally be at each and every tour the next two weekends and share my heart and hope for this building. I look forward to seeing you either this weekend or next!

Pastor Doug Fields

PS: Rick's Road Show continues this weekend as he teaches from a different Saddleback campus each week. This weekend he'll be back on the Lake Forest campus, then it's off to Corona next weekend.
